Built for How Tutoring Actually Works
Most video platforms were designed for meetings. Simpleclass was designed for one teacher overseeing multiple small groups simultaneously. Every feature exists because tutoring institutions need it.
Breakout Room Monitoring
See and hear all breakout rooms from a single dashboard. Silent observation, instant intervention, live audio levels. The feature that makes Simpleclass different from every generic video platform.
GDPR Compliance
EU-only data hosting, Dutch company, Data Processing Agreement available. No data leaves Europe. No complex configuration needed. Built for institutions working with minors.
Everything Else Your Classroom Needs
Beyond the monitoring dashboard and privacy infrastructure, every session includes the collaboration tools teachers rely on daily. These are not add-ons or premium features. They are built into every session on every plan.
Integrated Whiteboard
The whiteboard is built into every session, not a separate application that students need to open alongside the video call. Teachers and students work on the same canvas in real time: drawing, adding shapes, placing text, and uploading images. Everything syncs instantly across all participants.
The whiteboard follows the teacher. When the teacher shares the whiteboard, it appears for students in whichever breakout room the teacher is broadcasting to. This means the teacher controls when and where the whiteboard is visible, using it as a targeted teaching tool rather than leaving it open as an unstructured canvas. The teacher can prepare content in advance and reveal it to specific groups at the right moment during the session.
Teachers can also detach the whiteboard into a separate window, keeping the video feeds in one screen and the canvas in another. For multi-monitor setups, this means full visibility over both the students and the teaching materials.
Session Recording
Teachers can enable recording when scheduling a session. When a recorded session starts, students see a clear notification that recording is active. There are no hidden recordings and no ambiguity about consent. The course owner can access recordings after the session through the admin dashboard, with cloud storage and instant playback.
Recordings serve two purposes in a tutoring context. First, students who missed a session or want to review material can watch the recording. Second, course owners can review recordings for quality assurance: did the teacher follow the session plan? Were breakout rooms used effectively? Did students participate? For institutions running multiple teachers across multiple courses, this is a practical oversight mechanism without requiring someone to sit in on every session.
Chat and File Sharing
Every session has two built-in chat channels. The session chat reaches everyone in the session regardless of which breakout room they are in. When the teacher sends a message to the session chat, every student sees it immediately, whether they are in the main room or in a breakout group. This is useful for time warnings, shared instructions, or announcements that apply to the whole class.
The personal chat is a private one-on-one channel between the teacher and an individual student. If a student has a question they don't want to ask in front of the group, or if the teacher wants to give specific feedback to one student without interrupting others, the personal chat handles that quietly. File sharing works in both channels, so teachers can distribute worksheets or reference materials during the session rather than emailing them separately beforehand.
Custom Subdomain
Every institution gets a branded subdomain: yourschool.simpleclass.eu. Students log in at your URL, see your institution's name, and enter a space that feels like your online school rather than a generic meeting platform.
This is more than cosmetic branding. Each subdomain operates with complete data isolation. Student accounts, course data, session recordings, and chat histories are separated at the database level between institutions. A teacher at one institution cannot see students from another. An admin at one subdomain cannot access courses on another. The multi-tenant architecture means every institution gets its own walled environment while sharing the same underlying infrastructure.
The Core Problem We Solve
When students are split into breakout rooms on platforms like Zoom or Teams, teachers face a difficult choice: which group to be in? They can rotate between rooms, but they are blind to what is happening elsewhere. A student might be stuck, a group might have finished early, or someone might be having a technical issue, and the teacher will not know until they happen to visit that room.
Our breakout room monitoring changes this. Teachers see live video thumbnails and audio levels from all rooms on a single screen. They can spot problems immediately and respond before students lose momentum. It is the online equivalent of scanning a physical classroom.
For European tutoring institutions working with children, data protection is a legal requirement, not an optional checkbox. Simpleclass hosts all data in the EU, operates under Dutch law, and provides full GDPR compliance without complex configuration or expensive enterprise plans.
Every other feature on this page exists to support those two fundamentals: visibility over every group, and privacy for every student.
